Position: Transportation Coordinator

Position Summary:
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of school transportation to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of students to and from school. This position involves managing bus routes, scheduling, driver coordination, and ensuring compliance with state and federal transportation regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Route Planning & Scheduling: Develop and maintain bus routes and schedules that optimize time and resources, ensuring safe and timely transport of students. Regularly review and adjust routes to accommodate changes in enrollment, construction, or other logistical concerns.
- Driver Coordination & Support: Oversee the recruitment, training, and scheduling of school bus drivers. Provide support to drivers and address any operational issues that arise during their shifts.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all transportation activities meet state and federal regulations, including the maintenance of bus safety standards. Conduct safety audits and training sessions for drivers and other staff as needed.
- Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for transportation-related inquiries from parents, school staff, and drivers. Communicate any schedule changes, delays, or emergencies effectively to all relevant parties.
- Maintenance & Equipment Management: Coordinate regular maintenance of school buses, ensuring that all vehicles are in safe operating condition. Track service schedules and report any vehicle issues promptly.
- Record-Keeping & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of bus routes, student ridership, driver hours, and any incidents or accidents. Prepare regular reports for the school administration, ensuring all data is up-to-date and accurate.
- Problem Resolution: Address and resolve issues related to student behavior, route disruptions, and other transportation challenges. Ensure that any disruptions are managed in a way that minimizes impact on students and parents.
- Budgeting & Resource Management: Assist in the planning and management of the transportation budget, ensuring that all resources are used efficiently. Monitor fuel usage, vehicle maintenance costs, and other transportation-related expenses.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency plans for transportation, including protocols for delays, accidents, and other unforeseen events. Ensure that all drivers are trained in emergency procedures.
Qualifications:
- Christian Faith:
- Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Adherence to Christian principles and values in both personal and professional life.
- Educational Background/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in transportation management, logistics, or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in school transportation or a related field is preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage and lead a team of drivers and staff.
- Knowledge of state and federal transportation regulations, including safety standards.
- Proficiency with office software (Word, Excel, Google Docs) and transportation management software.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.
