Leapin’ Lizards! Annie Jr. is bringing equal measures of pluck and positivity to the Centre’s stage. Little Orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite the “Hard Knock Life” she’s living with the cruel and embittered Miss Hannigan at the New York City Orphanage. Hannigan’s intolerance for the “Little Girls” in her care fuels Annie’s determination to find her long-lost parents. Armed only with the broken locket they left ‘round her neck and the promise they’d return, Annie’s quest to find her mom and dad leads her through the wondrous world of “NYC.” With lovable mutt, Sandy, at her side, Annie befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, thwarts Miss Hannigan’s evil plans, and ultimately finds a new home with billionaire Oliver Warbucks, proving there’s always good reason to hope for “Tomorrow.” Integrating an exciting combination of commitment, imagination, teamwork, discipline, and creativity, drama camp is a fun-filled adventure challenging young performers as actors, singers and dancers. Join us and you’ll shine brighter than the top of the Chrysler Building!
There’s trouble in River City when fast-talking Harold Hill shows up with seventy-six trombones in tow!! Can upright, uptight Marian, the town librarian, resist this master showman? Based on the ageless Broadway classic, The Music Man JR. comes to Centre Stage this summer and adapts this masterful musical for young performers. Featuring such timeless classics as 76 Trombones, Trouble in River City, Goodnight Ladies, Marian the Librarian, Lida Rose and Till There Was You, the result is family entertainment at its best – a bold, brassy show that will have the whole town atwitter!
The story follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize. The catch? He doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef! His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, whose belief in Harold just might help him succeed in spite of himself.
